Tiësto may have made his name with trance, but A Town Called Paradise finds the Dutch superstar DJ turning his talents to pop music, full stop. His guest vocalists here will be familiar from other recent pop/EDM crossovers: Matthew Koma sings on the yearning "Written in Reverse," Icona Pop animate the perky "Let's Go," and Krewella appear on the closing "Set Yourself Free." His songs, too, are right in line with the radio-ready EDM sound of 2014, full of big chord progressions, emotional melodies, gargantuan beats and roller-coaster crescendos.
