Chesney sings: "I've been living fast forward/A hillbilly rock star out of control," and after a year in which he married and divorced Renee Zellweger, who could argue. Yet on Road, he is fully in command of his own brand of uptempo country rock. The album seesaws between several introspective songs and a few lighter offerings.
